Since 2015 in Samara starts working Srednevolzhskiy Branch of the National Centre for Contemporary Arts. Its first project – "Volga. Zero "- is a long-term program in the format of personal author's presentations aimed at opening, understanding, development and popularization of current artistic practices, that form the local artistic contexts of the Volga cities.
In the last decade in Samara are actively functioning various artistic community, implemented a large number of group projects- with tangible deficit of individual utterances, especially the latest generation, which leads to a leveling of the overall situation. Individual vision withdrawn from art – turn, leads to frustration within the community.
The project "Volga. Zero "allows to build, to make visible, the actual" map "of the field of artistic actions, from which it will be possible to isolate trends folding of individual communities and territories. This is kind of "anatomy" of the local artistic environment, aimed at including the "reset", "zeroing" of the situation. Building a chain of presentations as a continuous series of events, the project is intended to make the "invisible scene – visible" (in the words of P. Gielen), to become the next step in inscribing of local meanings in the global artistic context. In this sense, the project is "glocal."
The format of the author's presentation within the program is based on the following formula: one day – one event – one artist. This is not a traditional exhibition format in established spaces of perception of art (galleries and museums), and the translation of perception in format of the meeting with the artist here and now out of ritualized form of visit to the exhibition. The repeatability of this format in the same place, when changing actors creates a line of saturated evenness, allows comparing artistic languages, which does not always work in a group exhibition format.
Place of project realization is the space itself of the new NCCA – a unique monument of Soviet Constructivism in 1932 The factory – Kitchen. Because in the coming years the building will be on the restoration, strategically important is formation of saturated communicative environment in this place, its transformation into space of encounter with art. Since the factory kitchen is close to the factory and residential districts, being the intersection of the "old" and "new" city, must be the perception of this site by the broad masses of citizens as a friendly, creation of image of a new cultural point as an open, modern, dynamically developing organization. The city – is a place of art. Such a vector of space perception dictates new cultural space.

Direct speech:
Nelia Corjova: Author's presentation suggests that the artist "speaks" about himself, out of cliche, with which customizes him situation, time, money, or something else. All are exhibited either on group exhibitions – and then is broadcast some curatorial idea or, more often, in my opinion, quite disastrously for the artist – there are exhibitions in the format of one day and shows like "Night of Museums", when there are a lot of names , but is obviously a hodgepodge. And always isclear that the city amassed enough cultural capital and there is a need to give everyone some size for the utterance. This is important especially for the artist. Because it is one thing – to create a couple of works and show them to ten exhibitions, and the other – is an opportunity to develop something by yourself, take a view of an own artistic language.
Konstantin Zatsepin: I understand this one "zero" as an attempt of rejection of established forms and the start of a new form. At least, I would like to grown something new. Including this attempt to return to the author. Appeal to his figure poses the question of developing a new format – self-display, self – presentation by the artist himself. Through the each artist, thus "speak out" the environment itself in general. Here, of course, has not done without certain theatricality. It is necessary that the local art scene showed itself, out of a rigid framework and conceptual limitations.

Presentation number 1 – Eugene Bugaev,
January 21, 19:00 – 22:00 yard of factory – kitchen
Eugene Bugaev (Chertoplyasov) presents "metaphysical" direction in the Samara art. An important place in his artistic practices is concerned with "unspeakable" mystery, mysterious essence of things, and unspeakable means of language. In the video and photographic of Bugaev an important place is given to the esoteric geometry, to the figures as such, entering into a relationship with the "real" world. From many contemporary authors of Samara Bugaev differs by the love to finished work, from which all unnecessary is ejected. To the interpreter there is no to invent here – philosophy is not just founded, and even deliberately emphasized by the author. Alchemy, metaphysics, and geometry – all this in the works of Eugene are even too much. What is defiantly not in them – this is the so-called "real life." In this sense, art of Bugaev is defiantly "irrelevant", for what the artist is sometimes accused of conservatism and political indifference.
Art world of E. Bugaev always remains shrouded in mystery. The artist calls his art eidetic (from the Greek. Eidos – meaning) and the metaphysical. Metaphysical effect is created by a combination of photographic faces and eternal symbols, of lowlands and unchanging, profane and sacred. Bugaev's images don't have a specific, real value, their main ability – to refer to the Other. According to Bugaev, lost tradition can be recreated by the power of art. He relates his creativity to areas of neoacademism, necrorealism, Italian metaphysicians, and Dusseldorf school. These aesthetics are organically combinedin Bugaev with reflection of “native places of the soul.” In the video of the artist is significant primarily a condition in which they inject the patient viewer. It is a state of sadness, loss and silence. This silence of lost world in which there are still images of beauty, truth and goodness.
